Effect of volume on BVR combat

What is the effect of increasing fighters on BVR combat
e.g

a Mig-31 basic version fires its missiles at a F-15A/F-16A/F-4
most likely all would miss

but if there are 12 foxhounds firing their R-33s at 8 F-15A/F-16A/F-4 [48 misslies] , then does the chance of hits increases as simply because the avionics onboard the targets are overwhelmed by large number of missiles complicating countermeasure. Now even if 1 hit is scored per 10 misslies launched thats half the force eliminated.

In a high intensity conflict like 80s NATO vs WP scenario would this increase chances of kills by BVR weapons ?

[plz limit this discussion to fighter vs fighter combat , despite the fact that primary target of foxhounds were bombers]
