Disappeared from radar a few hours ago and search and rescue teams deployed in the SE Mediterranean. About 60 passengers and 10 crew.
And just hearing the media are already asking experts to speculate on the cause. God help us!!!!!!!

French Gendarmes were investigating the Li battery runaway theory

An iPhone 6S phone, an iPad mini 4 tablet and four perfume bottles including two aerosols. So many apparently innocuous objects that are at the heart of the investigation of the French gendarmes on the crash of the Airbus of Egyptair which made 66 dead, including 15 French, last May, in the Mediterranean Sea.
*
All these objects were placed on the right-hand corner of the dashboard, in place of the copilot, near one of the windows of the cockpit. At the exact location from which the first alert messages were sent automatically sent by the Acars system of the device. They reported damage to the right side windows.
[…]
The first of these messages is the “3044 anti ice right window”. This code indicates a defrost problem or the power supply of the right-hand window, that of the co-pilot. It is followed in the same second of another message, “561200 sliding right window”, this time concerning the sliding window of the cockpit, always side co-pilot.
Interesting development around a Li Batterie runaway.

The prosecutor ordered the return of remains “of Egyptian victims, and there is currently coordination with foreign embassies to turn over the remains of foreigners,” Saturday’s statement said.
A lawyer for relatives of the French victims had said in September that there was nothing to “justify” the delay in handing over the remains.
France welcomed the decision on Saturday, and said it hoped it would be implemented as quickly as possible.
“This is an important decision which the families have been looking forward to and the urgency of which has been stressed a number of times in recent months by the French authorities,” the foreign ministry in Paris said in a statement.

BEA 3D model shows that a fire broke-off and developped from the front section (cockpit) to the rear and that deformation paths deny any hypothesis of an explosion.
Les enquêteurs français s’appuient sur l’analyse des débris montrant, grâce à une modélisation en 3D, que l’incendie s’est propagé du cockpit vers l’arrière de l’avion. Ces débris ne présentent pas les déformations typiques d’une explosion.

Egyptian Ministry of civil aviation denies Le Figaro’s report
the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s media office manager, Bassem Sami, denied on Saturday that his ministry had received any technical reports from the Egyptian prosecution until now about traces of TNT on EgyptAir flight MS804’s debris.
He moreover stressed in media statements that the Egyptian investigation committee did not receive reports that any traces of TNT were found on the debris

Sadly, the Egyptian authorities are known to cover Pilot actions up with mechanical or external forces.
When the Pilot of Egyptair 990 pushed the yoke of his 767 forward and nosed dived into the water off the coast of America, the FDR and CVR supported the facts and indicated he committed suicide.
The Egyptian authorities however still maintain it was a mechanical or systems failure. Apparently the Captain yelling “What are you doing?” and pulling back on his yoke after the co-pilot had muttered “In god I trust” several times and pushed his yoke forward and held it there with a lot of force up to impact was not enough evidence to suggest pilot actions caused the crash.
I fear the Egyptian authorities might once again steer this incident in a direction other than the complete truth. The latest updates support some sort of foul play at hand.

TNT traces on EgyptAir plane debris split investigators
The origin of these traces remains unclear and Egyptian judicial authorities did not allow French investigators to examine the debris in detail, Le Figaro said, citing a source close to the investigation.
Egypt wishes to write a joint report with France to validate the presence of TNT on the debris. France has refused to do this because the investigators were not able to carry out an adequate inspection to

Two months of silence. And still none of the relatives have been handled over the remains of the victims.
Voice recorder stays mute for the vast majority of the public… Obviously, some are questioning what’s the purpose of all this in a way that could be more damaging than anything else:
There is a definite reason why the French government is keeping this midair incident very hush hush, because if it comes to light that there is lax security at French Schengen zone airports, it will damage the already fragile tourist trade in France which is crucial to its ailing economy.
No one seems to care really and it’s all very quiet..ho hum. Maybe they’re hoping it’s all forgotten.

Yes. You are right. Fire alarm location might point to something similar in the avionic bay or to the cargo. The number of security forces on board is troubling (but does not give any certitude).

They probably need to recover a lot of the wreckage to even have an idea of what happened. I don’t rule out a personal device with a lithium battery exploding in the cockpit.
Take a look on You Tube for lithium battery explosions.

The recorders are at the back of the plane but the cockpit voice recorder’s pickups are in the cockpit of course. The FDR gets its information from the computers which are in the avionics bay at the front of the plane approximately under the cockpit.
So a fire in the front section could burn through the cables which feed the recorders.
What is puzzling is that we are told they were fighting a fire, why didn’t they at least squawk 7700? Nothing said on the radio either.
Unless it was a sudden and intense fire which diverted their attention. What would cause a fire like that?
Indeed, we are taught to aviate, navigate and then communicate, but even ValuJet had time to declare an emergency and that was an oxygen fueled fire.

Audio from the flight recorder of crashed EgyptAir flight MS804 mentions a fire on board the plane in its final moments, the investigation committee said on Saturday, confirming what sources on the committee had previously told Reuters.
There are still no explanation of why the recorders stopped at 37000 ft. More than 5 min before splash down.

Fire on board confirmed by cockpit voice recorder
One pilot attempted to extinguish the fire before the plane entered in a steep spiral descent.
Data from the second and final cockpit recorder recovered from EgyptAir flight MS804 suggests an attempt to extinguish a fire on board the aircraft before it crashed into the Mediterranean Sea in May, Egyptian investigation sources said Tuesday.
