I have heard that EI had some financial trouble and that they were planning to ground some planes.
Does anyone has any news?

RE: EI
I have flown EI to Boston from Manchester Connecting and clearing customs in Dublin. They were good and their new A330, look great inside and out. Food, in-flight serice etc about average. The good thing with them is flying via Dublin is far less hassle then going to LHR for the US. However, because of Ireland’s position being on the west most tip of Europe, I couldnt see long-haul flights to the far-eat etc (if they were available) being as popular for connecting because people have the feeling you are flying back on yourself.

RE: EI
Yup,Aer Lingus suffered a lot after 9/11,they were loosing millions,at one stage they were loosing as much as United,an airline much bigger than them. The restructuring plan seems to of worked, howver, a pilot strike in my over working hours and pay did not help,it was thought then that they could become the new Sabena or Swissair! But hopefully things will get better for them as they are a very good airline and their c/s is beautiful!

RE: EI
I haven’t heard much recently…
Last October/November, while SR and SN were going out of business, it looked like EI could be joining them, and they were pleading to BA to buy them out.
However, since then, it appears things have got slightly better, although, the pilots strike a couple of weeks ago certainly didn’t help. But for teh moment, they look ok-ish.
EI’s main problem is that their only Intercontinental routes are to the US East Coast (plus LAX), so they were particularly hit after 9/11.
