EI Strike and FR to LHR and AMS

Hello everybody I didnt see it mentioned anywhere else on here but EI pilots are staging a 2 day strike tommorow and Wedesnday.

The strike is because of the new BFS base, the DUB pilots whp wish to transfer to BFS are going to get a real raw deal.

EI have cancelled most of their flight tommorow and Wedensday because of this but FR have stepped in and offered EI a number of aircraft to operate a skeleton schedule.

Therefore FR aircraft will be operating EI flights to LHR and AMS tommorow as well as all their MAN flight along with some other little bits and pieces like 1 MXP and 1 DUS flight.

Mr O Leary will have a great few days operating a Ryanair branded jet on behalf of Aer Lingus into London Heathrow. I suspect he will take full advantage of the publicity and I am sure his PR team have already developed some great slogan for the press.

Thank goodness he won’t get the chance to capitalise on someone else’s principles. I’d imagine he’d be offering to fly scab miners around during the 80’s pit strikes too…

Aer Lingus say that they will operate all flights as normal with the exception of those already mentioned. A lot of pax must have made alternative plans, as Aer Lingus have quite low fares available on several routes if you are able to travel on 21 or 22 August.

According to aerlingus.com, this industrial action has now been cancelled. The New York flight on Tuesday and the Chicago flight on Wednesday are still not operating.

Exactly what i was thinking: I look forward to seeing what Ryanair have up their sleeves to make EI look stupid.

They complain rather loudly about the state of and delays at STN, one day at LHR and they will think STN is christmas.

Therefore FR aircraft will be operating EI flights to LHR…

I know they are only covering for EI this time, but could this be the begining of something new for FR and for LHR in the future! I assume the flights will be operated by 737-800’s(with winglets)?

Perhaps MO’L has not given up on the whole ‘take-over of Aer Lingus’ idea yet…even though it has been blocked by the EU!
