Eindhoven, 19DEC, IL76 delivers Pakistani Mi-8s!

This Ilyushin delivered two formerly Pakistani army Mi-8s for a nearby helicopter refurbisher.

I only got a good shot at the first helicopter. There were some difficulties with the unloading so by the time the second came out it was already a tad too dark for good photos. In the background a RNLAF Cougar can be seen with a car as external load. Just to the north of the airport there’s one of the low-flying areas of the Dutch air force (GLV-V).

This Hercules did four practise landings. All of them were like this: landing on the right main gear, proceeding like this for several 100 metres and then slamming the nosegear and left main gear on the deck before going around for the next try. Surprisingly the wind came from the right. With landings like this you would expect the wind to have come from the left.

Next photo opportunity will be friday. Then there will be two IL-76s inbound for the helicopter guy. The same one as shown above as well as a Volga Dnjepr flight. It’s not sure yet if they will deliver or collect helicopters. Weather permitting I’ll be there as well, although at the moment the forecast is not good. Often the air force also has a Zitotrans IL-76 inbound on fridays so there is even a chance that there will be three IL-76s on the deck!
