EK 777 at MAN 23/10

Hi Guys,

While I was waiting for my flight yesterday, I saw the noon UAE flight parked on a remote stand surrounded by fire engines, any ideas what happened?

I was gonna post a question asking why an EK 777 was parked up remotely, no need now. What was the reg? I wonder how much total cost a logistic operation like that cost, just to ship in a spare engine? Will it be fitted at Monarch Engineering or Tommy Cooks, the later I know has an engine shop.

Emirates fixed it themselves in TC’s shed. The engine was not changed in one “Lump” the propulsor or core part of the engine was. The Fan was not damaged so it did not need changing. It is a standard proceedure for the GE90 to do that when it is down the line because the whole engine is so large it is very difficult to ship one.
I THINK that you can only just get a “Bare” engine into an AN-124.
The propulsor came in on a TNT 747. It was well photographed when it was on the ramp.

There was 3 Emirates 777s in today –

A6-EBX – Tech
A6-EMP – UAE8017/8018 (picking the tech pax up)
A6-ECB – UAE17/18

Answer.

I know – i’m confirming that it’s correct.

I know, they are all operated on behalf of other cargo agents, but operate under the Emirates callsign.

If I remember correctly, SkyCargo currently use 6 aircraft: 1 A310 – 5 B74F; Operated by TNT/GTI.

You’d be pleasently suprised by my UAE knowledge… 😮 :p 😀

Well my info is straight from the flightplan! :p

My info doesn’t contradict yours in any way, Sam.

You do know that Emirates don’t actually own any B747s at the moment, don’t you? :p

A quick update on the 74F,

UAE9973 (OOTHA)
Leaving at 0930Z today. (Due to arrive in Manchester around 17:30)
ALT1 EGSS (So you STN guys never know 😉 )

My sources tell me that it’s OO-THA, which is in the full TNT livery.

Shame it’ll be so dark by then, even if this claggy low cloud clears. 🙁

Thanks Guys – It’s much appreciated.

Sam, I think the flight aborted his takeoff earlier in the day due to an engine problem. He asked the Fire Services to also check the brakes – I’ve heard it needs the engine replacing, I don’t know if that is true or not. There was 3 Emirates 777s in today –

I guess that explains why I saw UAE8017 in the system yesterday, while looking for the A6-EDB delivery flight – which was UAE7380 btw. 😉

Heard it was a bird strike. Replacement engine is due Sunday, apparently brought on an EK 74F.

Seriously though is it possible to apply for a pass to enter the ramp?

The only way of gaining an airside access is to be employed by the Airport or another employer such as Ramp agents etc and an ID is needed and there is a tough CRB/criminal record check etc,you cannot just get an ID because you know someone (i was joking)

How do you get onto the ramp to take pics? Are an employee at MAN?
