EK incident at GLA

Just received a call from Kevin WM at GLA to say the outbound Emirates 773 has ‘skidded’ off the taxiway and is currently embedded in the grass.

Heading out for a look just now with the video camera…

Yea, plus the business cabin is full just about every day.

Would be interested to know how you know that given that the CAA figures dont distinguish between classes:confused:

Like EK said

Wasnt “EK” one of your many previous alter egos ?

Apparently not, yesterday was about 54% booked and assuming today was similar then all should have been accomodated…

The Glasgow service carries a lot of cargo containers even if the pax levels aren’t always 100%, which is sometimes the case.

Like EK said, they are very happy with cargo and business loads, they are just waiting on economy to be full on a more regular bases, ie not just at school holiday times, before they go twice daily.

Are they putting on an extra flight to get the passenger out as surely they can not have all fitted on todays flight.

Maybe some passengers went to MAN and even NCL.

maybe the pilot was not used to wet conditions in Glasgow and did know grass turned to mud – unlike in Dubai. And what else could it be but pilot error – did a big monster come along and push the plane onto the grass!.

I hate those big monsters!

Aircraft was freed last night at 10pm and will leave GLA today at 4pm carrying crew only. The passengers spent the night at home or in hotels and will be accomodated on todays’s scheduled flight…

Who ever was handling the aircraft at the time will be mighty embarrassed by the ribbing they will cop from their fellow pilots I’d say

i think theres going to be some red faces later when they get to the bottom of this.

Maybe the pilot was just unfamiliar with GLA.

Sounds just like it messed up the turn on taxi, nothing too major:

Been down for a look amongst the news crews, aircraft is A6-EBP, looks more like an embarrasment than an incident. They’re unloading the cargo onto the taxiway and presumably will attempt to push her back onto the hard stuff when as unladen as possible…

I’ll cut some video together shortly…
