Well I must just say I am always sad to see any propliner reach the end of it’s usable life, but hey thats life ! we must move on, with less tears. Keith.

Atlantic Airlines now operate the electra – last time I checked they had 6, G-LOFB,C,D,E, G-FIJR and FISU. JV was taken off the flying program about a year ago following on from corrosion – the intention was for it to supply the rest of the fleet with the potential of it being restored to flight, or some such.

I believe AA still has another 3 sat on the ground as well as the 2 airworthy birds. The one being broken up is most likely out of airframe hours therefore of no further use except as spares. That is unfortunately the way of the aviation world, one sacrifice for the good of the many.

I saw one climbing out of Cardiff last week, must have been AAs other one.
I guess the Electra dosen’t have enough relevance to be preserved in the UK, as lovely a machine it is, a real classic propliner.
Good to hear the cockpit could be kept though.

I would imagine that the nose section has already been earmarked for some museum somewhere 😉

Sad sight but inevitable? Is anything being saved such as Cockpit or anything?
