Electra G-FIJV no more

Sad to report that long term Electra wreck G-FIJV is no more, or at least not intact. The remains wont last much longer judging from todays visit.

In the second picture someone has cut out the Union Jack behind the cockpit window.

I am guessing that the second Electra has the same fate awaiting in the next few days. Its a shame.

As I was leaving the airport for home this evening I saw a new chopper had arrived.

However it wasn’t a delivery to Patriot helicopters.

Rather it was painted JCB yellow, had big caterpillar tracks and bl**dy great chopping jaws on it’s hydraulic arm.

It was parked next to the Electra fuselage.

That doesn’t strike me as a cockpit that has been ‘saved’

Always a sorry sight seeing an aircraft being destroyed like that, especially one so familiar to many.

Thanks for posting the pics, Sylar.
