Elvington 11th May

After an epic walk I finally made it to Elvington yesterday afternoon. Complimenting the usuall exhibits was the Battlefield North get together. With over 200 military vehicle attending.

Before the pics I must say a big thank you to the two gentlemen from Leeds (sorry I dont know your names;) ). Who gave me a lift from Elvington to york in there pre war Morris artillary tractor.:) 🙂 🙂 🙂

Any way hope you enjoy the pics. I think you may spot a vehicle belonging to a forum member.

I had the misfortune to get a bus to Elvington once, I say misfortune because there was no return service – ended up walking to the park and ride just off the A64 near the maize maze!

Nice atmospheric shot of the Dak’ – shame about the lamp post!

Cheers,
Dav’

PS: Look after yourself – happily I’m too old to sign-up!!! All’s well at Breighton – a little quieter without the warbirds though.

Hi SP. I never realy got a chance. I maybe look like some one you would not want near your aircraft. But the older gentleman and his grandson ???
Oh well I will just have to have a look at the victor at Bruntingthorpe on the 25th.

Hi SM and Ga Thank you for telling us about the Auster.
Ga welcome to the forum. I kinda feel a bit guilty about watching you struggle with the trailer now LOL.

Hi Dav. Hope every one there is ok. I have been watching. I have been working at a place on the (old) main runway.

Going in a couple of weeks. It has taken nearly 14 months to get in  They are 8000 men short you know:rolleyes:

I saw the Dakota earlier in the day while I was walking up the A19. Here’s the pic. Its not one for the album 🙂 🙂

Very nice photo’s! Good display of the two Bucc’s parked together. I wish they would complete the lightning and paint on the roundels.

Surprising about the reaction of the Victor guys??

Well worth it. The weather was fantastic. The military vehicle people were very friendly. Just a very nice way to spend a sunday.

Elvington Is well worth a visit on any day. Have a look at their web site. Its a very impressive and expanding collection. The airfield buildings alone a worth a visit, especialy the NAFFI.

Forum meet (north) any one ????????b

…On the down side I could not be any more dissapointed with the reaction I got when asking to look around the Victor. I realise I cant judge the whole team there by his actions, but he could not have been more clear if he told me to f… o.. I wont be asking again.

What is with people at the moment! it must be the heat, the pictures look fantastic 🙂 was it worth the epic walk? :p
