Janie, I admire your optimism. 10 hours flyable weather in one day at this time of the year? Not too likely I fear.

Met24: If you were leaving from Lt Gransden, it would be 265.1. You could easily do that in under 5 hours if you were flying crow-style with no breaks.

There is approx 12 hours of daylight right now, that gives you two hours (if you are going to do a 10hr return trip) for refuelling and comfort breaks, non-crow flying, tea AND buns. That should be plenty of time.

Cumbernauld … I think I’d need to set off the day before, at the latest!

At the airport its the usual mix of spam cans and airfix kits*, a few angry palm trees and a smattering of PFA types. Quite a few visitors, so you can never tell who is passing through.

In Cumbernauld town itself, you can see Britains worst building – you’ve been warned 😮

Foodwise, the cafe at the field is ok, but can recommend the Castlecary Hotel about 2km down the road.
