Interesting to see IES Projects mentioned here. I am looking for info on the Gunbus Replicas they built for the film “Shout AT The Devil”. I presume that the company is no more, but does anyone have any contact details for anyone involved with them?

That’s a shame if that’s the case, but understandable I guess from a council perspective in these straitened times. As an historically significant airframe (IMHO), it would be great for someone to find a way to get it airborne again. I can’t think that costs would be astronomic, relatively speaking when compared to some restorations…

Thanks for the photos avion. G-ALFA has a totally different scheme than in the 60s Elmdon days. It had a typical Auster factory scheme then, pale yellow with a green trim. I wish I had taken more photos of the aircraft I saw then, instead of just the reg.
Film and processing was expensive in those days when your only income was parents pocket money.

For those with a penchant for Austers in uniform, the albums I mentioned hitherto contain photographs of AOP.9s WZ729, XK382, XN407, XP281, XP282, XR244 and XS238 as well as AOP.11 XP254 and B.4 XA177. As before, if anyone wants to see the photograph of a specific aeroplane for a specific reason, please let me know.

With apologies for the delay, I can provide photographs of G-AJRC and G-ALFA but not, I regret to say, G-AGTT or G-AMTC. That of G-AJRC was taken at Sywell in 1977 and that of G-ALFA at Leicester East in 1980.

Out of curiosity and apologies for the slight thread drift, why was G-AGOH PWFU? Was it an airworthiness issue, simply that it was felt wiser to ground it while it was still in one piece or some other reason?

I’ll see what I can do tomorrow, gentlemen. However I must disillusion you, Elmdon Boy. I’m a southerner who spent a decade or so in the Midlands, principally in the 90s, so I can’t promise you much, brummie wise, from the days of yore!

Any chance with G-AJRC avion ancient. One of only two Austers I have flown in. Out of Defford near Pershore in 1991. Lovely flying over the Malvern hills on a beautiful sunny day. I notice its no longer on the UK register, what’s happened to it.
Also G-AMTC, a resident with the Warwickshire Aero Club at Elmdon in the early to mid 60s. I remember it well from my spotting days as a schoolboy at Elmdon. The other resident Auster at this time was G-ALFA.
I believe you came from this part of the world avion ancient, am I correct, if so perhaps I know you from this period of time.

Merci mille fois. Vraiment cet forum est formidable. Interesting story with HHO and it’s fellow Auster GTV. They were owned by a chap called George Pine who was a mink farmer back when fur coats were PC Anyway he flew the two Austers “round the Tower” at Blackpool and it was on one such flight, at the princely sum of 7/6d (37.5p), that led to my life long interest in aviation. I seem to remember my father, a chubby genial Lancashire Lass and myself progressing in a stately fashion round the aforesaid Tower all on the power of a 90hp Cirrus. Not sure the CAA would approve these days.

Here’s NZ1707. I’m afraid that I don’t have the time to scan and post the rest of the photographs. But I’ll do individual images if anyone has a specific interest in a specific aeroplane rather than a general interest in seeing everything. I’ll occupy what time I have listing the other, civilian, Austers whose photographs are in the album. There are dozens of them.

Any of them but NZ1707 for sure!
