…and I’m sure we’re all thankful you didn’t go mad and decide to paint it pink instead! 😀

You bad man! :diablo:
Thanks for all the positive comments. She is looking great. Roll on next year when we can get the grey bits done too 🙂

Agreed, the team have done a great job of painting XL231 and deserve credit for braving the weather working hard and keeping us all updated…

The reason we didn’t go for green/grey is well covered in our thread. I’m sure if someone stumped up the cash for the paint we’d have gone green/grey. However nobody did, so we opted to use the hemp we already had in stock to put her back in the scheme we went to war in.

Trumper I think you’re mistaking our jet for the one at Brunty which ‘The Last Victor Pilot’ aka ‘The Luckiest Victor Passenger’ took for a flip…

I was looking through the repaint thread the other day and you guys have done a great job there. Your Victor looks great in hemp, and I’m sure we’re all thankful you didn’t go mad and decide to paint it pink instead! 😀

The work on the Handley Page Victor XL231, which is on display at the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington, has been completed half a century on from the maiden flight by a Victor on December 24, 1952.

It’s not just the national press and the BBC then? Still, they managed to identify it correctly as a jet.

Be nice if they put it back in its Cold War grey – green scheme. But I guess history is only a few years old now!!! The 1970s bloody hell, did they have powered flight then, ooooh yeah, I was there covered in Conway soot and muck 55 sqn – happy days.
