Plane gets stuck in mud

Investigators are trying to find out what caused a cargo plane to run on to grass at East Midlands Airport shortly after landing.
The DHL A300 Airbus came in to land at the airport shortly before 0330 GMT on Thursday and slipped off the side of a taxiway on to soft ground.

No-one was injured and the airport and Civil Aviation Authority are expected to conduct inquiries into the incident.

Airport spokeswoman Amanda Brooks said no other flights were affected.

“The incident occurred while the aircraft was on the taxiway after it had landed,” she said.

It is not thought the accident was due to icy conditions, she said.

The aircraft was undamaged and recovery teams were working to pull the plane off the grass.

You would think he would stop on the runway for a short period befroe turning off. Maybe he was a wee bit too far for the junctions and came off on the grass because he was trying to turn onto it too steeply?

Why cant all airliners have CCTV so that they can see each gear. Wouldnt that make it easier to taxi?

Slippy runway perhaps? Doubtful I know, but hey who knows? Or perhaps he came in to fast and overran?

Thanx for the news. 🙂
