Thanks everyone..

Although last time I went by it I thought the road was fenced off?

That spot is accessed by nipping through a hedge from a car park. The car park does have a barrier in place, but the spot is still accessible!

Thanks very much paul, didn’tm know much about that spot, but it looks a lot better than the north-side I had been to before. Would I be right to assume the spot needs a step-ladder?

No worries, Dan! The land there is raised slightly so you have a clear view above the fence onto the runway. It will be in your shot for aircraft taxi’ing to take off from 27 but as you can see from my shot, it isn’t too bad. 🙂

Dan’s right. It’s a bit of wasteland next to 27 near what used to be the museum before they moved it to the north side of the airfield. It’s marked here with a red cross.

The views, as you can see are excellent for aircraft landing on 27 and taxi’ing for takeoff. It’s an easily accessible spot and well worth a visit!

You can also get bits on the cargo ramp.

Hope that helps!

A quick email to the photographer usually helps. Ive asked a few questions about locations before, and I always get an informed response.

I’ve never been to EMA, but the only place matching the background would be here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=nl&geocode=&q=castle+donington&ie=UTF8&ll=52.829373,-1.308575&spn=0.008505,0.012488&t=h&z=16

My knowledge of the rough area of EMA would suggest he is right. However, I don’t know exactly where or how you would go about getting there.

It looks like it could be taken from the Hotel that overlooks the threshold. Not 100% sure though.
