Hi Guys,
I went home for the weekend and flew back to ABZ on Monday.
We flew on an Embraer 145 but I heard the stewardess say the had to move people into row 12, one each side, why is this?
I did want to ask cos BA are always friendly, but I didn’t.
Has anyone got any clues??
Sam

our 748s had no probs into ABZ, and they seemed to be doing a good job as on both Weds and Thurs they had the runway swept and open in time for are arrival (first of the day i believe) – unlike the IOM!

I don’t know much about Embraers but would row 12 be coincident with overwing exits? Perhaps they required one passenger each side to act as an ABP for each exit?

Moondance – just flew to ABZ and bck today – what a nightmare! The snow has been causing havoc, plus the glideslope failed when the airport re-opened. Most diverted to EDI but we were fortunate and got in on the Localizer/DME as the vis improved just at the right time. Hope you don’t have to travel back this weekend! I’m on the early ABZ again tomorrow morning too! Hope the snow lays off!
I’m on days off at the moment, missing the chaos is good! In fact even went into Leeds this week with the wind DOWN the runway, so the Met gods have been exceedingly kind.

Trim (Centre of Gravity balancing) is quite critical on the Emb-145. Sometimes one pax too far forward can make the difference. Incidentally, it doesn’t matter which side you sit on!
Sometimes I used to fly with extra fuel just to act as ballast so the airplane would trim within CoG limits.

Now i think of it, some of the pax in front of me on the LGW-JER flight in July 2003 where moved to the back. Now i see why!

We had a similar problem in our Dash 8 Q400 back from BHD in December. Whilst the flight was really empty, the cabin crew had to re check the boarding passes of everybody as some people had sat in the wrong seats
Trim settings were the reason given to us, which I assume is the same thing as Moondance is getting at?

Centre of gravity problem, I should imagine.
