Now the deceased have been named. Quite close relations to him in the large family.

Yes. ‘Unstable approach’ would be another term.

Despite there being no hope of him hearing, people on the ground were already yelling “Go around!” even before the wheels first touched*

I’ve seen a lot of input from eye witnesses that I know (Flyer Forum friends) and the best estimate is that it came over the threshold at around 600ft on a runway with an LDA 200 metres or so over that required for the aircraft at MAUW which, of course, this one wasn’t at

Moggy

Is that pilot speak for `bad approach` ? 🙂
I’ve watched the jets land (there are some larger jets based at Blackbush) and generally they come in quite low.
Prop jobs tend to come in almost at head height, at least it seems that way when you stand under the approach!

I didn’t realize the Phenom was certified for one pilot.
Not surprised considering its size, just didn’t know (I haven’t been bizjet shopping lately).
RIP to all…

The family watched and listened for years while hate was preached leading to the death and destruction of thousands of innocent people. They may even have enjoyed the limelight. It is not only the ones that “cast the real stones” that are to blame in hate crimes or terror but those who stand by and watch (family or friends).

@Snafu, yes and I would have voted to delete it as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an accident database (ASN is already well established). But I see on the discussion page they are speculating that Bin Laden’s family may have been on board and using that as a justification to keep the article.

BUT… if you look at the bottom of the page it seems that major incidents are covered by Wiki. I was just surprised at how quick someone had been in getting on the case.

Yes I saw some uncalled-for remarks in other places on the internet.

A very tragic weekend for general/historic aviation.

Let us be thankful that Dan Griffiths (Spitfire)is alive and will hopefully fly again. As has been said, metal can be re-bent.

Any loss of life is tragic and should not be trolled. RIP & blue sky’s to you all, my heart goes out to all your friends and families at this very sad time.

Why brand an entire family as extremists because of one man, if you read the articles they disowned Osama years ago, don’t jump to conclusions.

Here we go again as if there wasn’t enough on the extremist front in the world and right on my doorstep.

No time to bother with it though.

Remarkable that there is already a Wikipedia page on this event.
