Emirates Airbus A 343's

With an airline that can afford so much and modern stuff it is a great surprise to hear that the airline is getting up to 8 A 343’s on long routes. Why would this not be ‘500 or ‘600 series or even a passenger 747 would be good:confused:

Airbus have just brought out the Advanced versions of the 200 and 300 of the A340 (and are also applying the technology to the A330). They are still bought by airlines to satisfy a specific need for efficiency over a defined range with a certain seating capacity which is less than that of the 500 or 600.

LOGICAL! Because they want to fly them on lower demand routes!!!

Perhaps they are taking up ex-SQ examples at a bargain rate rather than paying for brand new A345’s or A346’s. I know GulfAir has a few of the ex-SQ A343’s, but where are the rest? Is Airbus going to cease production of -200/-300 series anytime soon because of the 2 new series?
