Apparently Reuters announced that Emirates could be buying a stake in Alitalia
Why would a successful and rich airline buy a company so uninteresting as Alitalia?
The only gain would be for Skyteam to have Emirates on board.
Curiously, Delta, Alitalia and Emirates have an Electronic Ticketing agreement. So aside the rumour of taking part of Alitalia, we may soon see Emirates in Skyteam.
What do you think?

From what I had heard, EK was very hesitant on joining on alliance, not unlike our buddy Sir Richard. Perhaps they are going away from this stance? Not we just need a rich airline to buy a stake in Olympic. Any takers? 😉

Well having Emirate in any allaince would be a benifit to at least some airlines but EK may well clash with some of the bigger members on the 3 allaines.
As for them taking over Alitalia- Alitalia need all the help they ca get no matter where it comes from.
