Emirates to Bangkok.

Anyone done this? Looking for flights to BKK in June, and favourite at the moment is LGW-DXB-BKK with (hopefully) an A380 on the second leg; bit put-off by stories that the 777s out of LGW are pretty cramped, though. Kingfisher have good prices but I’ve heard the transit in Mumbai can be a nightmare, and also seem to recall rumours of serious financial problems at the airline. Can anyone offer any advice or experience? Thanks for any help.

Just to say thanks for the help folks, especially Cloud 9. Really don’t like the sound of Emirates Triple Sevens, and Qatar are looking good now. Cheers.

Another option could be Qatar Airways via Doha…with economy fares from £435rtn, however to get this fare flights are limited to the below.

LHR – DOH on QR002, departing 21:30, arriving DOH 06:25 +1 day (Airbus A340-600, 2-4-2 config, although it goes to 2-3-2 towards the back!)
DOH – BKK on QR610, departing 08:00 +1 day, arriving 19:00 +1 day (Boeing 777-300ER, 3-3-3 config, although Rows 17 & 43 are 2-3-2!)

BKK – DOH on QR613, departing 09:15, arriving DOH 12:15 (Boeing 777-300ER, same as above)
DOH – LHR on QR017, departing 16:35, arriving LHR 22:00 (Airbus A330-300, can’t tell seating config as they appear to have so many different ones for this aircraft type!)

Interestingly, paying just an additional £36 opens up a few more flight time options, but I’ll leave you to see for yourself!

Also, the travel dates I put in to get the above results were 15th-21st June.

Hope this helps, PM me if I can be of any further assistance.:)

I flew on two Emirates 777s last year. I didnt see anything to complain about, the service was good and the IFE has an unbeliavbly good choice. But I must admit, I’m not particularly tall and don’t find myself at great discomfort even when flying the likes of EasyJet.

I flew Emirates to Bangkok about two years ago and would never do it again, simply because of their most uncomfortable 777 seating configuration. Four flights on the 777-300ER was enough for me!

Another airline to consider would be Etihad Airways. They were great but they are supposed to be changing their 3-3-3 economy class layout to 3-4-3, too.

Emirates 777’s do a 3-4-3 configuration compared to the usual 3-3-3 most airlines use on a 777.

If you do want to fly Emirates the whole way get the a380 EK service out of LHR, as of July it goes double daily

I have had the deilight of flyinh an EK 773 and wouldnt fly on one again (on flights to australia it is a awful configuration. Take the A380, I have done the SQ flight to Singapore (and vice/versa) several times, and Im using it again in August, and the A380 is fantastic, but EK doesnt have economy upstairs unlike SQ.
