EN830's Favourite Spitfire

Hi Ian, as you said BM597 was your favourite Spit, I thought I’d post these. They were taken at Church Fenton in 1972 when she was the Gate Guard. We took her in just before the winter started to give her a good going over and grease up to protect her from the worst of the weather. It’s yours truly in the second pic!

RE: EN830’s Favourite Spitfire

Hi Kiethmac

Great Pictures.

For the past 3 years I’ve been working with Guy Black and the Historic Aircraft Colelction (HAC) to document the history of their Spitfire, I probably have the biggest collection of pictures of her from 1942 through to the present day.

Would it be possible to get copies of these and any others to add to the collection. This year is her 60th birthday and I hope to be able to publish a Photographic Kaleidoscope (Thanks for the title Dilip (only joking !!!)) of her career.

Kind regards from a humid but grey Jersey.

Just think barely 25 years before these photos were taken Spitfires were a common sight in British airspace , mind you – just think how old Uncle Keith must be !!!!!!
