Red’s link leads to an extended clip of the Hunter OCU film which has been used in the production of the Hunter Video I’ve got from which I took the screenshots of Mark12’s Spitfire being hacked to death…….with me so far?
Disk in post tomorrow Mark12 – Now does anyone have a full copy of the Hunter film?

To keep on topic
Ex RNethAF Spitfire XIV MT853 looked very similar as a target at the Harskamp shooting range in the Netherlands during the early fifties. I have seen a pic of it with the tail shot off and the prop buried in the ground.
However there are still rumours about an old aircraft with a bubble canopy in a barn, but where have we heard that before.
Cheers
Cees
Around 1974/75 this bubble canopied aircraft with 5 prop blades was mentioned/seen in a garage in Malde (or is it Malden) near Nijmegen, where I lived at the time. It was in a bad condition, and it was said to be a from nose to halfWay the fuselage. Didn’t investigate it as we were thinking that hunting/searching for German helmets was more interesting in our free time.

When I was in the Army (in the days when you had to serve for 14 months) I frequently visited there and tried to find out if anything was left, but apart from two F-84’s used for camouflage training (1985/1986) I couldn’t find anything. However there are still rumours about an old aircraft with a bubble canopy in a barn, but where have we heard that before.
What happened to the wreckage of PK519 after it’s “usefulness” as a target was over?

I remember seeing Doug’s Spitfire at the Great Warbirds show amongst others so the arguement doesn’t really hold water .

but there is a big difference between a dealer who keeps his aircraft hidden and someone like Stephen Grey who lets thousands enjoy his collection in a museum environment

Oxcart – In fairness to Doug Arnold I think he saved a few aircraft by being a ‘dealer’ and the difference between a dealer and someone who has an aircraft for a while and then sells it is hardly noticable.

just wanted to reply to this before i run off!!!-Yes, VERY ‘unsual’ man Doug Arnold!! – i would see amazing pieces of news occasionally about what he had or was getting- but in the end i realised he was just a dealer- a real shame!

Mark,
So this is your retirement project as you mentioned earlier. Any idea how to find a Mk 22 tailsection?
An exciting project in any sense, please keep us informed.

(Seriously – I’m amazed that someone can post something for one particular person’s attention, and not only does that person have the gen, they also have the remains!)
