End of an Era!

Hi All,

This weekend is the final Reunion of the Mosquito Aircrew Association. On Saturday there will be a large number of ex-Mosquito aircrew (& associate members, like yours truly) at Hendon. So, if any of you are in the area or at a loose end, Hendon could be the place to be, if you’re into Mosquitoes.

Cheers for now,
Neilly

Hi All,

The timings; We’re supposed to arrive at 10.30 @ the Conference Centre entrance (?). Then there are individual tours starting @ 11.00. After about 12.45 the day is carefully ‘mapped out’. There will be about 150 of us, so the MAA party should be quite noticable. If you do make it, Firebird, try & find me. I’m quite noticeable, too. 6’4″ & built like a second row forward (we should all have name badges, so that should help)

As for the recording? I don’t know, although there was mention in an early edition of The Mossie, that there would be some sort of TV interviews, whatever, on the day, but I don’t know any more than that.

Bruce, how’s the new hanger coming along? I haven’t been down since early May. Always a pleasure, though. Salisbury Hall will always be a favourite aviation place for yours truly. Say hello to Bob, from me, when you next see him. btw. you were going to sort out some Boscombe Down info for my CD.

Cheers for now,
Neilly

I thought a few unseen Mossie pictures my go down, too.

Its actually the Herons first respray, and it went right back to bare metal as well – a lot of work!

The T-11 will be indoors next weekemd, and the Sea Venom should be in sometime next year for a restoration – if I can finish the Chipmunk!

Thanks for the kind remarks

Good stuff Mike – Bob is going great guns with the 6 – one of the next projects will be a hangar to put it in!

If I could beat the ‘painting the forth bridge’ situation that we are faced with with our outdoor aircraft, then it would all start to become much easier.

Come again in the spring as my guest once we have had a winter tidy up!

Cheers

and of course, if you’re in the area, pop by and see us at London Colney as well.

neilly,
Any idea of timings, where exactly within Hendon etc. as I would very much like to pop by, being not too far away, but would need to ‘juggle’ the days other requirements to suit.

Anyone ‘recording’ the day for posterity?
