Iron Maiden are a metal group and they have never called themselves a pop group! They have been know to call themselves a progresive rock group in recent interviews though.
Bruce also has very sucessful solo career that is firmly in the metal camp. His son also has his own metal band.
I think Bruce is 52 off the top off my head.

I’m not sure you could call Iron Maiden a pop group anymore, or ever. Mike, Bruce Dickinson is almost as old as you are (yes, very old indeed) 😉

He is putting the money up front and has put a big wad in already.
I think Iron Maiden is a pop group ???? or according to my son they call themselves that !!!!!!!

Who needs Branson when you have Bruce! Oh and Bruce Dickinson is no way involved in the pop world!

Apparantly they talked about the place being secure for construction of the new type air lift ships. The half size prototype has been bought back from the US military who ran out of funds for it and is due to start test flying later this year with the schedule to start construction of the full size beast with a 50 ton cargo capacity late 2015 with the talk of up to 50 of the beasts being built at Cardington. A lot of input financially from a group of guys including one of the leading lights in the pop world. Surprised Richard Branson hasnt got his cheque book out .But there again he is probably a bit short of petty cash with his space project on the boil.

I would rather they kept the shed instead of “more” unrequired houses there’s too many houses already. And lets face it once the sheds gone its gone for good and history is irreplaceable.

Can’t they build the housing project inside one of the hangars? Kill two stones with one bird!

The other hangar is being restored like its neighbour, they probably took the roof off to get rid of all the bloody pigeons (-:

Quick update. Just driven past them and there’s a big hole in the roof of the left hand one, no doubt to be replaced with new roofing sheets in due course.

Well the R101 was built at Cardington but the R100 was built at Howden 😉
I was up that way a couple of weeks ago and had a short stroll around whilst dodging the snowshowers LOL
Check out the size of this Airship ? Mooring/Tie down block (compare with fence posts ) with a couple of old sheds in the background 😉

Sorry to resurrect a slightly aged thread but:-
Yesterday I had a call to photograph a wealthy Jersey resident who has just given over £100m into Trust for charitable purposes. The job was for The Times and they wanted images of this Gentleman, David Kirsch, with his collection of Zeppelin memorabilia. Unfortunately he sold the collection off a few years ago and the only remaining piece he has, is a superb model of a Zeppelin that bombed London which hangs from his garage roof.
However as we walked, with the reporter, up into his garden we were talking about his interest in airships and mine in aviation and he mentioned Cardington and the fact that the R100 and R101 were built there and that he had, had pieces relating to both in his collection. We walked on a little bit longer and he announces “of course I own one of the hangars at Cardington”. I asked “which one”, but he couldn’t remember, but said “I have been trying to sell it for some time but have had no takers”. Not sure of the asking price, but if you know of anyone looking for a rather large detached property !

Looks as if Kermit, or others may have infringed the Cardington Danger Zone. In place to prevent the unwary from having their horizontal surfaces removed by the tethering wire of the barrage balloon that is still occasionally deployed at Cardington.
!
Nope – we had special permission to fly over the site for the photo sortie.
