Six years ago I paid £50 pcm.
Now I pay £114 pcm.
With the latest rises and my bill this quarter I expect it to rise to £150.
I checked bills for the last 24 months to see where the extra fuel is being used and was shocked to find my energy usage is lower than 6 years ago!
If it carries on like this my bills will be zero and I’ll be bankrupt!

Back to the OP I had a nice email from Scottish Power increasing my gas and electricty to £152 from £98 per month last November they knoked it down from £111 I have always been in credit. What has changed in the last 12 months? I have had a new fuel efficient central heating system installed and double glazed the house with super a rated whatsits. How the hell do they get to that(its to late tonight to talk to them)
Just building up their own cash reserves using your money and of course probably a good few others besides, then the competitive, efficient :rolleyes: power companies will explain how they have actually done you a favour, as you will go into next winter well in credit prior to them ripping us off again.

Sod the interest, think what that £1 was worth in the sixties, I could fill my car up with petrol (early sixties granted) now it wouldn’t even register, Jim should settle the debt in return for a tank of fuel. 🙂

Scotland, free prescriptions etc, sisters hubbies parents having just retired have moved 9 miles north over the border to reap those benefits, whilst still being close to everyone they know.
Worth thinking about Tony, being 50% a Scot myself, at least I wouldn’t need a Passport, 😉

My Post Office is O.K. The staff are friendly, and you can get most of the Postal Services one wants.
ONE GRIPE though, which switches me into “Victor Meldrew” mode is those, who on a Monday, turn up with items they have sold on Ebay, the other week there was a woman who had a Super Market trolley, loaded with parcels she wanted to send, the queue extended right outside the P.O. and there were others doing the same thing. All I want is my Pension, and it takes ages for my couple of minutes to do my transaction.
As regards Banks, well, I guess we could all write a book on their antics.Large bonuses, Gold handshakes for both joining and leaving Senior Staff, and it’s us stupid bu***rs that pay for it, and have to bail them out.
I have just received a letter telling me my State Pension has/will be going up by a whopping £2,00 per week, as I have a Police Pension, I have to pay Income tax, so there will be hardly any benefit for me.
Then I get a letter telling me from HMCAR that my Tax code has changed, and I will be paying more this next year, My circumstances havn’t changed, so how come I am having to pay more income tax?.
If I were younger, I would be out of here P.D.Q.
