Fabio Capello has resigned as England manager. And the European Championships are only months away.

Don’t really follow football nowadays, but I suspect the Euros is now yet another tournament we’ll be writing-off after coming nowhere, despite the usual hype by the tabloids, with so-called “fans” reacting by smashing up pubs across the country when we go out. The whole England football set up feels like an embarrassment now.

Sorry Lincoln that one must have passed me by? Was that the Super Aguri team of a few years ago? If so those drivers certainly never got paid a penny! Pay Drivers do work slightly differently, in so much as win or not the teams dont tend to pay them, rather the other way round.

I applaud Capello.
Having a bunch of shiny-arsed no marks at the FA remove the Team Skipper on a potential guilty verdict is wrong on so many levels.

snowen250.
What about the Japanese drivers who have agreed to “Buy into” a F1 team, and agree if they don’t get a place, they are willing to forgo their wages?.

Why is it that these Prima Donna footballers, don’t have to do like many F1 drivers have to do, ie, if in a race they fail to get into the points, they dont get paid.? and they put their lives on the line every time they go on the track.
Give a footballer a tap on the ankle, and he’s off for weeks, and on full pay.

Sorry Lincoln 7 but the part about F1 drivers not getting paid should they not finish in the points isnt quite correct. They work on a retainer – bonus system. So they would earn 70% of their wage regardless of finishing postions, with any 30% available should they meet the targets set by the team. Red Bull are slightly different with reports indicating they pay more like 60-40 or even 50-50! (maybe thats why Webber always looks so sad?) But if the driver doesnt finish in the points, he will still get paid. Just not quite so much.
And as for Capello, fair play to him. They undermined his authority. He walked. Cant say fairer then that.

and i don’t think management is to blame it lies squarely with the enthusiasm and passion of the 11 on the pitch ( something management cannot give them if it isn’t in them !! )
That is exactly what a manager is supposed to do; inspire, cajole and enthuse his players.
By: tornado64 - 9th February 2012 at 12:45
sadly it always falls on the manager if man u started losing everything tommorow the instant shout would be “sack ferguson !” his many years as an excellent manager would be of no considderation to the supporters
i personaly feel england teams have not had the fire and enthusiasm to win a major title since the italian world cup 1990

You are never going to get the right people if you pay such poor wages !!!!! £6,000,000 PA for such a responsible job is a bit of an insult !!
i’ll give it a go for 4 months !!

And in 6 months time the headlines will read “Redknapp Must Go”.
In terms of percentage of games won, Capello is the most successful England manager – and the media are glad to see him go. Go figure
With the media the way they are, who would want the job anyway?

Right bring on Harry! Still a sorry state of affairs that an Italian has to stand up for the principle that a man is innocent until proved guilty!
Is John Terry guilty? is lipreading admissable as evidence? or will this be another waste of the taxpayers money?
By: Edgar Brooks - 8th February 2012 at 23:11
And there was I thinking that “Innocent until proven guilty” still applied; didn’t realise that, in our desire to be “good Europeans,” we’d adopted France’s legal system.
By: kev35 - 8th February 2012 at 22:04
Oh good. Now if they can get John Terry to resign from international football they’ll be on to a winner.
I would suspect that the FA have reviewed all the video evidence available of the incident between Terry and Ferdinand and have come to the conclusion that it is better to be seen to do something now rather than reacting in July if he is convicted.
Capello seems to have been less than popular in the dressing room and who knows whether this Terry/Ferdinand incident has caused divisions within the England squad. The timing isn’t great but if, and it is only if, the FA believe Terry is likely to be convicted then they have to disassociate themselves from any racist behaviour at the earliest opportunity.

A typical F.A. own goal – in their anxiety to be seen to be ‘doing the right thing’ they’ve already found John Terry guilty before he’s been tried, thus forcing a showdown with the manager. Perfect example of this nation kicking itself in the g***ds. No wonder Fabio’s walking away, any sensible person would.

lets face it if the 11 paraplegics perform as usual i don’t blame him !!
