According to a parliamentary committee,
” Of all the tectonic plates within the Union,it is England which most needs to be lubricated and adjusted to the new reality “.
What that means is,it’s time to consider whether England should have its own separate parliamentary assembly,as do the Welsh,Scots and Northern Irish.
Should it ?

There’s a link in the article to download all 207 pages of the committee’s report. ( I’ll be reading it if the excitement of Mr. Bee’s account of how he’s repainting a signal box on the Bluebell Railway gets too much ).

Indeed they did and have often managed without national government in the past. My point was that Tony’s plan would fall at the first fence unless there was unanimity for either no or yes.

I wouldn’t let that worry you, Charlie.
The Belgians managed perfectly well without a government for the best part of eighteen months recently.

They should all be offered a referendum, if they vote no then the Parliaments come Assemblies should be merged, they cut this they cut that, but for the size of the Country to have 4 independant Parliaments and the baggage that goes with it is barking mad.
Not sure how that would work. There is a slim chance that the Scots will vote for independence, the Welsh would not so would the English effectively be voting to shed the three other “nations”? Have you noticed how the BBC (of course!) now refers to the Welsh and Scottish “governments”. The Scots have a Parliament and the Welsh an Assembly – neither constitutionally has a government.

Agree fully, TonyT. Why are so many jobs needing to be duplicated? We need one, fairer parliament – without bias to one part of the country – that represents the needs of everyone in the country.

yes to all the above… and we should also be included in the Scottish Independence vote and what shape it should take.

Tectonic plates? Strange analogy. I sense the influence of marketing men!
Now we’ve gone down the separation road, England should have its own Witan (Parliament).
