Equadorian Canberra???

On the TV news an item showing the two ex-kidnapped women disembarking from an executive jet apparently at Quito showed them clearly walking past a parked Canberra.

Something doesn’t seem to add up here. Is there actually a Canberra at Quito (in Equador) or must the location have been somewhere else (for instance Argentina)?

The external museum aircraft are parked at the Northern end of the runway next to what I remember to also be the VIP area. I think there was an old Herc too. If you tour the national museums of Ecuador, Chile, and Argentina the Canberra gets pride of place in all three.

If you’ve landed into Quito, by the time you see that Canberra the thrust reversers are screaming and your heart is probably just starting to calm down!!!!!

Looks like the FAE museum is at Quito as well, unsure if the Canberra listed (509, actually 409) is one of the pair shown above, http://www.aviationmuseum.eu/World/Latin_America/Ecuador/Quito/Museo_de_la_FAE.htm

Indeed the Fuerza Aerea Ecuatoriana operated its six Canberra B.6s from its base at Quito.

Why not, Equador was a big Canberra operator for many years
