Hi all,
I have just finished Eric Brown’s excellent book, ‘Wings on my Sleeve’.
I was wondering if anyone out there knows the following questions, as I would like to establish if Eric is still going. (I have googled Eric and it seems that he is still going at the ripe old age of 92!)
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if he is up an hour or so chat about a specific topic that I am working on to support a new aviation based book that I am trying to finish off. Does anyone know how I might get in contact with Eric? Naturally I would expect my details to be forwarded to any contacts first.
Regards,
Bruce.

Can anyone tell me the name or subject of his next book? I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have spent a couple of hours in this mans company. A national treasure!
Thanks in advance,
Dean

Can anyone remember what event it was a few years ago in which he flew in the rear seat of a Spitfire on TV? I feel it may have taken place at Southampton, for some sort of anniversary.
Or maybe i’m thinking of someone else. Maybe spitfire test pilot Alex Henshaw.
Can anyone remember?
Hi Danjama
I think that was Alex Henshaw. I seem to recall he didn’t look to be really enjoying it too much, unfortunately. Perhaps it just wasn’t the same anymore…and he preferred to live with hsi memories of the Spitfire rather than try re-live them?

Hi,
He was at the Wings Museum a couple of weeks back, lovely chap, we are hoping to organise a book signing here at the museum this summer, would be good opportunity for people to speak to him. Amazing he flew so many types and lived to tell the tale!

I shook his hand just ten days ago following a brilliantly delivered lecture on flying the German Jets.
Here is a chap who flown the 162, 163B (under power), 234, 262, 335 to mention a few, personally talked to Goring (in captivity), Churchill, Von Braun, Kurt Tank, Willi Messerschmitt, Alexander Lippish to mention a few, acted as translation during the interrogation of the Belsen camp commanders, and even met their executioners.
Oh did I mention he shot down 2 Fw 200.
His mind is still razor sharp.
He even has a new book coming out in 2 months time.
Stunning – Highly recommended

Thanks David,
I have given them a shot.
Failing that, do you personally know him, if so, do you ever get to see him?
Bruce
I do but I’d rather any approach goes through a more formal channel if that’s OK. Good luck – he’s a great guy.

You might want to change that thread title – my heart missed a beat when I first saw it, thinking the worst…
same here !
I’ve posted before but make no apologies for saying the same thing, but I had the honour to meet him at Legends last year, he spent hours signing books, shaking complete strangers (like me) by the hand. He had kind words for my son, and everybody there, he is a wonderful man.

Eric is very much alive and well and lives near me on the Sussex/Surrey border. He is still active on the lecture circuit both at home and abroad. One method of contact is via his publishers Hikoki, part of the Crecy publishing group.
