ERJ Question

So I took a trip with family this past weekend up to Washington D.C.

The airline I used was U.S. Airways. Going up there i was on a CRJ-700 and an A320, and on the way back I was on an ERJ-170 or -175 and a CRJ-200.

Having never been on the new ERJ-170 series aircraft before I was looking forward to it. I must say I have a very positive impression of the aircraft. There was lots of room, and it felt big for an airplane on the smaller end of the scale.

I don’t quite remember if it was a 170 or a 175. I checked U.S. Airways site, but it only stated that they used the -190 and the -170. Is there anyways to find out which type I was on? (I never did see the tail number).

Does U.S. Airways operate both the -170 and -175?

Also, on one of my flights up I think I was on a CRJ-700, but for some reason I can’t be 100 percent certain. Is there a way to find out what I was on? I still have my ticket stubs (with flight numbers and other info).

I know this may sound stupid, but I just wanted to be sure of what variants of the two jets I was on.

Again, I must give props to Embraer. I think they have a great family of small twin jets on their hands.

Well, I figured it out!

I found a website called www.flightstats.com.

You can track flights within a few days of the current date (i.e the yesterday or tomorrow), and I found my flight listing.

It lists the equipment used as E75. I checked my original itinerary and it said the same thing. To be sure, I checked on other flights by the same airline to see the equipment, and among the listings I found E70, which would seem to indicate ERJ-170. Thus, I’ve come to the conclusion that the airplane I was on was an ERJ-175. That’s the only logical explanation. I must have just miscounted the number of seats. According to the Republic Airways website, their ERJ-175’s have 22 rows (which is what I counted on the plane), but the first row only has two seats on the right-hand side so that means there are a total of 86 seats in the back. This is about what I saw. Looking at a diagram of their layout, I found my seat, and as I expected, it was at the trailing edge of the wing.

Thus to make a long story short, I figured out that I was on an ERJ-175. I think that’s pretty cool seeing as it’s so new to the fleet (accoriding to another site I found, U.S. Airways/Republic only has twelve of them in service!).

What do you come to that conclusion by? I’m not doubting you. I’m just curious.
