This dirty great rising bollard just ran into the front of my patrol car.
Will it affect my promotion?

50 years ago, I worked at a factory which repaired Service (mostly Army) Bedford lorries, and it was my job to book them (some very severely damaged) in. One arrived, with the radiator and engine pushed back into the cab, with a neat semi-circular hole where they used to be.
As usual, we asked the driver what happened, and this chap admitted that he’d been driving it, “We were driving under convoy lights only, and I was tail-end Charlie. Suddenly the light, in front, disappeared, so I put my foot down, to catch up. That was when I found out that the others had all gone round the roundabout, and there was this dirty great tree growing in the middle of it.”

When operating helicopters out of a quarry during flood relief in Wells we had the plods visit at night, after saying hi they went to turn around, unfortunately they had driven up the weighbridge, the only solid route which was surrounded level with about 3 foot of mud, as they swung off it and dropped into the muddy abyss a rye smile appeared across my face.. Two see two coppers wading around in mud trying to get the car out was a sight to behold, we gave them a hand, but we’re dressed for the occasion, they weren’t… When they opened the doors to get out it filled the footwells too 😀 they eventually got out and I often wonder how they explained that one.

Paul. I hope you don’t mean the Lambo, plastic plods wouldn’t be able to even know how to open the doors, let alone start it, and then drive it:D

What did he hit though?
I can’t make out what he hit or am I just getting old ?:(
If you look very closely at the image…just below the bottom of the car near the front, you can just about see the rising bollards are slightly raised, the front is resting on the top of the bollards!
My question though, if that’s a police car where are it’s blue lights, there are none on the roof, that I can see?!
Below is a “Police” car:
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, as driven by the Italian State Police!

rising bollards, quite suprised though.
Back in circa 2005 when the were new a few people tried to whip through them by following a bus. they were then suprised by how quick they rise and that they did not (as rumour had it) stop if a car was over them. I recall 1 car having its engine wrecked.

Hi It was a 3 and a half Ltr engine in a small Victor body. I had an expert witnesses, who stated the car was far too nose heavy, and the brakes were not up to the standard of the car, ergo, when I braked, and the nose dived, and swerved to the N?S, I hit the lamp post. My brief stated “Was I guilty of braking ?. if so, everyone who drove and braked, was or would be guilty of an offence of driving without D C A A.”
It was slung out by the Prosecution.:D as they offered no case to answere.

Oooops:D Having demolished an experimental Vauxhall car we had on trial in the Force, when a lamp post jumped out in front of me and totalled the car, I know how the driver feels.
They took me, to Court for driving without due care and attention, but I got off. I am pleased to say, I was the very 1st Copper in Lincs to get off that charge.
My Chief Insp went ballistic, as they were all in Court to see and hear the proceedings, thinking I would be convicted.
