Escaped points.

Hi All, Apart from what’s happened in my private life, ie my X, I recently got done by a Gatso, just up the road from were I live. 37 in a 40, (Been sittnig on the very naughty step ever since). However, I had a choice of 3 options,

Pay £90.00 and accept points on my D/L.
Go to Court, and put forward mitigating circumstances.)NOT good unless you can afford a specialist Brief.)
Go o a “Speed awareness Course, lasting 4 hrs, costs £90.00. but if you go on it you don’t get any points on your D/L, so I opted for the latter.
Now whilst it lasted fom 1pm to 5pm, with a 15 min break, I found it very informative, and I even saw a new road sign, shown on a video, that I had never seen before, and which is only used on Motorways.
At the end of the day, whether we each sat in complete silence, or asked a question, we were each given a letter stating we had attended the corse, and that Lincolnshire Police would not take any further action, and the N.I.P. would be dropped.
Rest assured, and needless to say, my Sat Nav, with speed cameras was switched on for the journey home, BUT, they are using a new device called, “PIPS” which is a very small box, hardly visible that records your Reg No, speed etc, and there is NO device on the Market which can detect these new money grabbing devices.
So, if you want your Insurance to go through the roof after you have been caught speeding, but you are within the limits which enable you participate in the Speed Awareness Course, then I would recommend taking that, rather than the other options.
