Had enough with Etihad
I was coming back to London yesterday on Etihad. My baggage weighed just 23.5 kilos and hand luggage was exactly 7 kilos. The gentleman sitting at the counter asked me to take out half a kilo out of my baggage, as I can only book 23 kilos!
I took out a hard back novel and had my luggage booked successfully. Than he told me that I can not hold this novel in my hand as I already have a 7kg bag with me. At this point I just binned the novel and promised to myself never ever to fly with Etihad again. I’m sure even a LCC would have allowed me to carry a book in my hand. I even told the idiot that according to the terms and conditions I am allowed to take a 7kg bag a lap top and some reading material, but he wouldn’t listen.
Have any of you come across someone as stupid/stubborn in your travels?

My in laws were forced by FR to check their carry-on because the wheels didn’t fit in their screening device (the rest of the lugguage was fitting). FR are rats and everything is good to steel money from the customers.
The flight (DUB-BIQ) was 1 hour late but they took the time to screen the lugguage of most of the passengers at the boarding gate… no comment.
I hate this airline!

I flew with Emirates the other day – in economy – and had 25kg in my checked baggage. Fortunately, their generous 30kg allowance meant that I was well within limits.
The flight was being checked in by SAS staff at terminal three and I had the pleasure of being checked in by a jobs-worth who wanted to check the size and weight of my hand baggage, which can also be 7kg. I have no objection to the size of my carry-ons being checked, but I hate it when there is no consistency with the rules. Arriving at the gate with my one item of hand baggage (of the right size and weight), it was frustrating to see many other passengers with not one, but two rather large and heavy looking items!

Wow thats a lot of fuss over a very small qualtity of excess luggage. Quite unfortunate that you had to throw a book away.

He shouldn’t have made you take .5 of a Kilo Out of your Main Bag!
Im a Check in Agent up at NCL! As far as im aware through my training and the rules and regulations with the airlines we handle is that we cant start asking passengers to repack there bags or charge excess until there a clear full kilo over there allowance!

You obivously cought him on a bad day.
Weight and balance is important, but to quible over 500 grams is silly.
However, it could be that too many folks in front of you for the same flight had a little too much weight and they had reached the limit at which they cannot allow any more than booked.
