EU Jets first day at Manston

EU Jet started operations from Manston today. First flight according to their timetable left at 6.15 AM. I got there at lunchtime and around 2pm two F100s joined the one already parked on the apron. It’s a few years since I saw it crowded with passenger airliners. The flying school pupils now have an additional problem to grasp. “Thanet 01 you are number two to a F100 on finals. Caution for wake turbulence recommended spacing is 6 miles” πŸ™
Called into the booking office and asked for a EU Jet timetable. They don’t do them, you can only see it on the Internet.

Unfortunately I am not really confident at their success. Manston is too far away from London, ground transport and communication are not quite efficient, and people would rather fly Luton/Stansted where low cost offer the same fares (and even lower) than this airline, and itΒ΄s easier to get. I donΒ΄t see a really big catchement area in the Southeast to support a low cost the whole year round. In any case, good luck for the future.

Flights were good, friendly crew and so on.

Flight times MSE-AMS are 35/40 mins so its a real rush for the crew to offer a trolley service. On the outbound we did an orbit over the north sea which Im sure was for the cabin crew to tidy up after the pax. On the inbound to MSE with a small number of pax we got the ten minute to land warning whilst still eating/drinking cabin crew trying not to hurry us too much to finish food and drink πŸ˜€

The 06.15 dpearture to DUB had around 50pax on board, the 06.15 to AMS had approx 70 pax. The return from AMS at 18.05 had less than 30 pax on board and the arrivals hall at MSE was locked when we got off it πŸ˜‰

Why are all the new airlines no frills airlines. We need some full service carriers!

Because you’re the only one who wants free food.
Sorry, but an airline cannot launch with just one customer.

People want cheap flights. No-Frills means cheap. Simple realy

Good luck to them and Manston, nice photos πŸ™‚

What did the loads look like on the flights?

I counted around 50 pax walking out for the 3.30. flight to AMS.
I think the early start might be a no no. Its only 45mins check in before departure, but that means a 5.30 latest arrival at the airport. πŸ™

Six miles for a F100? What are they flying, kites?
