EUROCELTIC

Euroceltic airways take over the previous Easyjet route Liverpool-Luton from 17 Oct 01. 2 flight a day Mon-Fri and 1 each on Saturday and Sunday. They say they hope to increase the frequency in due course. A Liverpool-Waterford route also looks a possibility.

Easyjet have stated in the Liverpool Echo that they may consider returning to the route, if there charges wrangle with Luton can be resolved. (apparently Luton Council take £3.00 per passenger on every flight using the airport).

Air Wales also spoke of taking up the service a little while ago.

RE: EUROCELTIC

A link such as Britannia was considering would have brought holidaying in the Channel Islands within the reach of many more people, maybe the authorities want to keep it select ? I think they are probally just succeeding in pushing people into going to the Med instead. All The CI gets is lost revenue !

RE: EUROCELTIC

Low fares it was everyone wants.A 20 minute trip between JER-GCI costs i think around £50 which is very expensive for such a short flight.Cheap flights will also give the Channel island tourism industry a much needed boost.
Around 10 years ago,Britannia said they would run a JER-LGW and GCI-LGW route for around £10!but the states of jersey refused their application.

RE: EUROCELTIC

BMI said they were interested in the JER-LHR route before september 11th,a letter from the CEO of BMI Sir Michael O’Leary indicates that the route is still a possibilty, but due to recent events i am very doubtful that this route will start for at least another year or so or at all.
Ryanair seem to be very promising,i would hope that there services to STN might start very soon if the landing taxes stay the same and other airlines such as BA don’t kick up a fuss like they did when easyjet tried to get into JER.

LAST EDITED ON 11-10-01 AT 11:32 PM (GMT)[p]Yes you are right it is good news, I must admit with all the trouble right now I thought the reserection of the route would be delayed further, but there you are, it starts next week.

As someone who has to travel from the Mersey are to the southeast im glad, the train is frankly awfull and the M6 is a nightmare. You wouldn’t think it was so difficult to get round a small country !

Glad that BMI is trying to reconnect JER with LHR. These “lifeline” type link should not be lost. I don think this would have happened in France for example. Liverpool lost its LHR link several years ago (that was also British Midland), loads of others have gone, Norwich, Humberside, Exeter, East Midlands Birmingham etc.

Incidentally do you know a service operates from Blackpool to Biggin Hill, using a J31 I think its is 3 times per week. it is operated by Platinum Air.

RE: EUROCELTIC

Euroceltic,do they operate fokker 50’s?i can’t rememeber.
Excellant news for liverpool,in these bad times for aviation its great to know that there are also new routes being added.
Euroceltic will be getting ever dash 8’s or BAe 146’s in the near future.
Jersey hopefully will be getting a stansted service with Ryanair if landing taxes do not change in the near future, also BMI was hoping to operate Heathrow services from jersey starting next summer, but due to the down turn in passenger numbers i do not think this will happen.

Regards Saab 2000

Also…for anyone interested there is a new cargo airline here in the C.I.Xair are operating i think BN Islanders between JER-GCI on mail flights.
