Euromanx carried 20 % more passengers per day than they did in January, just short of 6000. On the other side BA on their IOM/LPL/IOM route was 30 % down in March 2003 compared to Manx Airlines on the same route in March 2002 (they were up 7.5 % on 2001)
The IOM-LPL is still the top route for the Island with other 25 % of passengers.
Keen Air to Blackpool carried 844 in March which remains fairly constant

Certainly, the IOM authorities are trying to encourage other airlines to start a local presence. They aren’t trerrifically happy with BA.
BA will pull out of DUB flights soon I believe. Aer Arran aren’t going to be going for high frequencies, so the main carrier IOM-DUB will be Euromanx.

Well you are getting an Aer Arann flight to the IOM soon from Prestwick and Dublin. That is EuroManx, BA and now Aer Arann on the route to Dublin?
Funny enough there is an RE flight into JER today, not sure what it is doing there. Probably a one off charter or something.

Manx was often used as a trading name for BRAL. I suppose those orders must now be for BA Citiexpress – though I didn’t know they were due to get quite so many new planes in these times!

Euromanx has been operating an ATR 42-300 between IOM and LPL recently, the aircraft is in the colours of City Connect PH-RAQ.

I reckon the IOM base would probably be closed, wouldn’t be the first to be closed by Citiexpress. Probably any operations from the IOM would become ERJ flights?

Nothing has been announced about aircraft types as far as I know. In a way, it’ll be sad to see the end of the ATP. I remember being sooo glad when they were introduced on the IOM routes – they were great after years of the…shudder…urgh…Shorts 360.
The Future Size and Shape Review tranche 2 has earmarked a closure of the IOM base, at least so the rumours say.
By the way, our ferry company is also up for sale if anyone has a spare £150m!

I have found ba.com to be rather complicated and not user friendly, I would much prefer the simplicity of a single website for Manx or Brymon. It seems to be all congealed together with so many features it’s beyond me to go past the home page :p However, I must admit it is good for finding special offers online. Until you get to ba.com you really wonder if there is a cheap ticket around.

Ba.com works fine for me on broadband, also from work.
What is annoying is that they regard customers as enemies if the site goes down (their site goes down, so they charge you more for using the phone or a paper ticket, as if it was your fault).

I wouldn’t call ba.com a benefit! It’s terrible. Never loads up the pages you want to, and if by any chance you do manage to go past stage 4, more often than not it gets a 404, and you have to start again!
Funnily enough it works worst on Broadband.

I find it really annoying to be honest.
BA is one of the best managed airlines around, they have achieved very good results in the current climate. Yet, for some odd reason, their regional operation is a bloody shambles.
The only good changes have been the use of ba.com and executive club points. The old manx-airlines.com was a ropey website and, the Manx FF club was pretty useless.

Citiexpress is a disgrace. The airlines like BRAL,Manx and Brymon were running a successful and lucrative business with a regional outlook, for example, Manx knew what is what doing in the IOM with regional costs, aircraft and destinations. They offered a good service with reliability and the region at heart.
Then BA came along and well, ruined them. They cut destinations, aircraft, and jobs and made a once successful group of franchises into a loss-making airline.
Ok, it may have diluted the BA brand a bit but at least they knew where they were going.

BA don’t seem to know what they are doing regionally, they change their mind twice a day on strategy!
Euromanx will benefit though – they get much more cachet and probably will get more/cheaper borrowing and investment if they achieve franchisee status.

I know, it is the same with the Trislanders, though I have heard a few bad reports about the Beech aircraft.
Why would EuroManx want to become a BA franchise? Just going round in circles and is contrary to what BA has done already, streamlined most of the domestic into Citiexpress. One has to wonder what is going on :confused:

Who knows, there are still rumours of them getting a BA franchise.
Anyway, the Beeches are great aircraft! What other airliners allows you to see the flight deck, and track the flight through the front windscreen? Great fun, especially when it’s a difficult crosswind landing and the runway is never steady in the windscreen!
I enjoy flying with Euromanx, at least partly for that reason.

Would be better than those Beech aircraft if it did come about. Seems like they would seek some sort of growth similar to that of Air Wales.
