I don’t know if you have noticed but this new system where the actual people of the european nations have the change to vote has somewhat changed the entire thing. Earliear years when the votes where given by the “prof. judges” form each country, the winning countries were exactly what this UK this years presentative is…hiddious plastic pop music. (and we didn’t have a change) Also as the eastern european countries joined, they boldly gave all the votes from purely nationalistic aspects.
…But our last year victory was the first time when the new system clearly showed its power. Lordi won with overhelming superiority with more points than any other song in the history of the entire contest. And do you know why? Becouse they were so different form the other masses of euro-radio-pop. It wasen’t real heavy music, more of “heavy plastic” and couped that with ridicilous theatretical posture they managed to do exactly what they hoped for: break for the mass and shock the audience. And people bought it and voted it…:dev2:
It’s interesting to see how long does it takes from all the nations to realize the new format. This new system will hopefully increase the standart of the songs as they should be as marketable as normal popsongs contesting from the top ten positions….

C’mon chaps, anyone with more than one brain cell must realise that Eurovision is one of the best comedy shows going and always has been, it’s worth watching for Terry Wogans p### taking comments for a start. This band are just made for it, they are so utterly awful that they should have been put straight through, they are going to give us a side splitting performance and will inevitably dissapear without trace. Those who take this sort of thing seriously have just proved a point by ensuring that the sad little Scouse ( how embarrasing for them ) Tin-Tin lookalike who thinks he’s Frank Sinatra, but isn’t worthy of picking up the dog s### from his garden and lost out on that travesty called Fame Academy, has just had the fastest selling CD album of all time.
If you were a half decent contemporary band like Razorlight or whoever, would you seriously take part in such a joke event, knowing that the public would inevitably vote for a load of dog poo like Scootch.
It was touted around that Morrissey was going to do a ‘Song for Europe’ can you have imagined that, pity he didn’t, he would have no doubt produced a p### taking song and been none the worse off when, Scootch, who will no doubt go down as one of the worst bands in history, beat him to the post.
I look forward to the final and hope that Mr Wogan has well laid into the Jamesons prior to and during his commentary.
Incidentally, has Morrisseys so called attempt to enter got anything to do with the fact that Sandie Shaw once recorded with the Smiths, lovely girl, whatever happened to her, I once had a girl friend who was the spitting image of M Shaw, except had bigger bits, this was prior to ‘Puppet on a String’ though, I may have had second thoughts following that.

musical talent
________
“Eurovision” and “Musical Talent” are very rarely mentioned in the same sentence these days ๐ (and for good reason!)
I agree it’s not what you’d usually call “good music”, but it might just be what the European masses would call “Eurovision music” – based on their last few years’ choices who knows?
Of course, we all know UK will never win (however good {or not ๐ } our song may be) as we’ve upset too many nations over political matters in recent years, so why worry about the quality of our entry. It’s likely to go down in flames anyway – so perhaps we’d better just fasten our seatbelts and check the locations of our emergency exits:dev2: .

There are some very talented groups in the UK at the moment, they always seem to slip through the net though
I guess this is the problem when you leave the choice up to the majority of people. It should be properly discussed by learned people to reach a logical conclusion, like here……
