Even more Duxford photos

Traffic problems aside (and I seriously considered defecting to Old Warden after an hour in the queue!), I thought yesterdays show was a fitting tribute to those veterans of 60 years ago. It did a good job of making the point that its about people, not machines, as others have previously commented. The two minutes silence seemed to be well observed, at least around the area where I was stood, and gave a few moments reflection before the F3 ran in.

Glad to see a capacity crowd too, been some years since I’ve seen that. Might make it a bit crowed for us photographers, but without the paying punters these events simply would not happen.

I know some people get used to see two or three Spitfires in the circuit, but to me it is still an amazing sight, and given the history of the Grace Spitfire it was an honour to see it on this anniversary.

Anyhow a few of my photos to add to the excellent ones already posted.

Top photos Gareth. That Memphis Belle paint job looks mighty fine – pity about the thing under its chin! Apologies for the pedantry but isn’t the ‘Belle an early B17F?

Thanks everyone, heyphil – they were taken with a Nikon D100, the flying shots with a sigma 50-500 attached.

Great photos Gareth. Just out of interest, what camera did you use to take these pictures?

Just brilliant, Gareth. Those stripes on TD248 really have grown on me! 🙂
