Evening At The AVP (Warning – Includes Scenes Of Mild Peril!)

I told you all that you weren’t shut of me or my pictures…… :diablo:

A quiet beautiful Summer evening tempted me down to the Aviation Viewing Park at MAN.

It turned out to be interesting………….

At first, all was calm:

Suddenly, the North Side fire engines positioned themselves at the end of runway 06R and the air was filled with the sound of more sirens approaching the airport from several directions.

Arriving traffic was put into holding patterns as Jet2 B757 G-LSAC made an emergency landing on 06R, without reverse thrust (note smoke from wheels and dangling undercarriage doors):

Happily, the aircraft rolled to a halt before the end of the runway without further incident, and traffic soon returned to normal.

Enjoy….. 😀

Note: No B757s were harmed in any way during the making of these pictures. 😉

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!! Not my beloved LSAC! Poor old girl… Anyone have any information as to what the problem was?

Anyway… Glad to see your shots are not going to disappear from this forum Lance!

Ah yes. G-LSAC. Saw that from T3 departures this evening. It caused my flight to be 2 hours late . See my trip report soon for more.

Excellent pics.

Confirmed divert in from LBA. Glad all is well.

Seems that the old girls going to be tech for a time then?

I believe the emergency landing was due to a hydraulic failure, hence the loss of power to the landing gear doors and no reversers.

Diverted in from LBA I think. Caused 2 diversions – 1 Thomas Cook and 1 Air France to Liverpool to re-fuel.

Hard to say, Peter.

I didn’t have my scanner with me, so I don’t know the flight number.
