I am doing a talk about the history of RAF Greenham Common. I will also have copies of my book on the base “In Defense of Freedom” available on the day;
December 6 2009
2pm – 4pm, Countryside Lectures
Cold War History – RAF Greenham Common.
Once an epicenter for national nuclear protests and a huge military presence, the common is now being transformed into a wildlife rich nature reserve. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the fascinating military history of Greenham Common by local historian J. Sayers. This animated talk covers the United States Air Force occupation since the second world war up to it’s final decommissioning in the 1990’s. There will be a display of fascinating artifacts and photographs to view during the talk. Meet: Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre, Berkshire, Time: 2pm – 4pm. Cost: Free but booking essential. (Max number: 35)

I am interested in this talk, having lived close to Greenham throughout my younger days and seen it go from a busy SAC base to closure.
Just one point, I guess you mean 6 Dec 2009.
