Events at Norwich Airport – May 2018

I know there is already a thread about the talk by Barry Masefield about the Vulcan which is taking place in Norwich on 5th May

However can I mention that there are a couple more events coming up at the same venue – the International Aviation Academy at Norwich Airport (formerly RAF Horsham St.Faith)

On 12th May there is a joint event with City of Norwich Aviation Museum celebrating RAF Horsham St.Faith. This is also in part to highlight the history of HSF in the context of RAF 100. In the morning there is a talk about HSF followed by a tour of the Academy building which was originally Hangar 5 at HSF. It now houses a B737 as well as classrooms and workshops. In the afternoon there is a visit to the City of Norwich Aviation Museum (on the North side of the Airport) which has a big collection of exhibits related to HSF and, of course, examples of several of the aircraft types that operated from the airfield. The tickets cover both parts of the event.

Then on 22nd May in the evening there is a talk about the F-4 Phantom by Air Commodore (Rtd) Rick Peacock Edwards who flew Phantoms with the RAF (111 Sqn) and also flew its predecessor – the Lightning – and its replacement – the Tornado F2/F3. The talk is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first flight of the F-4 which was on 27th May 1958.

There is more info about these events here (you might need to scroll through to find some of it)
