Everton_1878 – Let's Mass Email MGM for BofB DVD!

Everton – please can you provide us with the email of your MGM contact so that forum members can mass lobby for:

a) B of B on DVD

b) Inclusion of alternative Sir William Walton film score

c) Inclusion of the Michael Caine narrated 50 min promo film, of which Mr Robert Rudhall has a copy, and which he has already told MGM he would make it available to them.

RE: Everton_1878 – Let’s Mass Email MGM for BofB DVD!

What have we all done!!!

I emailed MGM today and received the following response.

“I will be out of the office starting 12/30/2002 and will not return until
01/10/2003.”

“I will respond to your message when I return, or you may contact the
Customer Service Dept for further assistance. They can be reached by
calling 1-877-MGM-4You, or via email at 4you@mgm.com. Have a Happy New Year!”

The stress has been too much to bear so she has had to have time off.

Can I suggest the the new address to email is 4you@mgm.com
It will hopefully save time.

Unfortunately a lack of money is preventing us from doing much work. However we still manage to get small things done like ordering tubing for the Rudder getting Canopy Rails made in the UK as well as Aileron Controm Drum. However physically bending metal will have to wait till more donations roll in. Having said this we do keep our website updated monthly with little tidbits and as I always mention on there if you have any drawings manuals parts and wish to trade sell or copy please let me know

Thanks Kev 35

Thanks for the letter Kev 35. I similarly have tweaked the letter and posted it. we shall see what happens. Tony or Ashley, if you are reading, I’m sure robert would appreciate the efforts to push along MGM.

RE: What’s this about Susannah?

FWIW I sent this…..sorry if its sounds too pleading!!!!

————–
I hope you are the right person to contact, but we (a huge band of aviation fans) really need MGM to release the Battle of Britain Film on DvD (1969 – starring Sir Michael Caine, Lord Olivier, Susannah York, Sir Ralph Richardson, Kenneth Moore and many many more stars). Our videos are worn out and the video is no longer available.

It would be a top seller as there are many fans of not only the film, aeroplanes, the Battle of Britain but also of the stars.

There are also loads of extras that could be added on too….including a 50 minute publicity documentary released 4 days before the film premiered, the alternate Sir William Walton Score and the assorted fim theatre trailers.

Please, please pass this email onto the person who could make this dream come true for us all!!!

many regards

Tony

RE: What’s this about Susannah?

the extra 8 mins…well what can i say….i had to put my hands across mrs dezz’s eyes!!!! :0 :0 :0

as for the letter to MGM i’m going to “borrow” the above one and add to it saying something along the lines of how it kicked started the warbird movement here and in america. and i want it in widescreen.

Dezz 🙂

What’s this about Susannah?

“And ALL of the un-used footage of Susannah York in suspenders for Moggy. He’ll be gutted when he hears about the 8 extra minutes of it that we saw. I never realised they had such steamy scripts back then.”

You are all too young to watch that sort of stuff. I’m going to complain to the local watch committee about porno-shows at the IWM

Anybody take a video?

Anybody got any stills?

Moggy

Ah, you know i’m just pulling your leg Kev! I have 5 e-mail addresses at my disposal, so will begin tonight. Would you mind if I use your letter as a base for it? Its very good, and I won’t have time this week to think of one as good.

Snapper.

“how many BoB pilots survive, and of them, how many have DVD players? I once had to write “I must not be facetious in class” 500 times, but as I get emailed most days from my 83 year old buddy, it may not be zero after all.”

Thanks for kindly picking out the holes in my argument, fancy a job with MGM? (Grins)

I meant that now is the time to collect oral histories from these veterans before we lose any more. Then use these interviews to pack out a DVD with extras.

RE: Everton_1878 – Let’s Mass Email MGM for BofB DVD!

The last reliable “guestimate” that I saw in September 2002 for the number of BoB aircrew survivors was around 350 allied and slightly less axis.

Kev – is there copyright on that, or can we just send the same message, though slightly reworded each time? Like, once a day someone else sends it. Haha. Get friends, neighbours, parents, the bloke in the furniture department at John Lewis etc…..

Good letter though. Just one question – how many BoB pilots survive, and of them, how many have DVD players? I once had to write “I must not be facetious in class” 500 times, but as I get emailed most days from my 83 year old buddy, it may not be zero after all.
