Date of Departure – 28/7/04
Airline & Aircraft – Continental Airlines B737-824
Estimated Time of Deparure – Unknown
Actual Time of Deparure – Unknow
You may be wondering why i didnt know the departure time of our flight, the reason was i cant remember to be honest and the trouble at Newark probably made me want to forget it.
We left CO27 at the gate and we were all rushing along a long corridor to a que where they were checking the passports, handing out the visa’s etc, this que was very long and didnt seem to get any shorter, we left the que where a annoying women with a life long smokers voice 😡 directed us to the que we were meant to go in, my dad saw a que that was smaller and decided to join that, then this women shouted, ‘Hey!, go where i told you or i will put u at the back of the que you were just in!’, very rude women! 😮
Anyway having been through this area we went to collect our baggage, there were a number of carousels but these couldnt handle the amount of flights arriving and there were four other flights onour baggage carausel, after frantically trying to find them, we were confused about where to go because of the serious lack of directional signs, after asking a cop where we should go we qued up again to go place our baggage into the correct area to go on our connecting flight, after some more confusuion we found it and left it hoping it would be in Vegas when we arrived.
After all this we were getting tired but it wasnt the end, we had to go through the metal detector and get our hand luggage checked which took a while with the que. After that we looked at what gate our flight ‘CO569’ was departing from, after walking to the furthest part of the terminal we found it and had no time to sit down, we boarded the aircraft and sat down, absolutely shattered, this whole process had took 3 hours! 😮 and we know had a 5 hour flight.
The flight was uneventful with some heavy turbulance, i slept most of the way as i didnt want to listen the the poor Continental Airwaves, or the movie, i woke up on the desent which was fantastic with the landscape, we made a visual approach landing on RWY 7R, we then taxiied to our gate, we were so glad we arrived where there was a very relaxed atmosphere, we collected our baggage very quickly and got in a cab which took us to the Luxor hotel where we had a fantastic holiday and my dad’s wedding was great.
I may post the return jpurney if i can bear it, in the meantime here are a couple of pics with the report…….
1. Me at Newark
2. On final appraoch to RWY 7R

Enjoy……. 😀 the above descriptions may be in the wrong order

engine problems etc..
Thanks for the info ..wilco! I did not realise this forum was specifically for trip experiences!I did think however,if such an incident occured it would have been mentioned…these days though any malfunction is kept quite..or as quiet as possible for safety reasons..Cheers ..

I would recommend asking your question in the Commerical Forum rather than this Trip Report sub-forum. You’ll get more responses there. 🙂

engine’troubles’in flight..
I wonder if I may inquire if any of you have experienced an’in flight’engine malfunction in the last 5 -10 years or so?? The reason I ask is that since my retirement and flying as a passenger…just NO such event has occured despite the introduction of ETOPS!..In my early days albeit mostly with prop turbines (Proteus mainly),it was considered unusual if all four engines were ‘burning and turning’ without some problem or other at least once a week!..I would like to know what kind of reportable snags occur these days?..Anyone care to offer a line or two.?.this is an Aviation Forum after all..

Well it wasnt a viewing area really, more like a brilliant glass sided view in the large departure lounge 🙂

So there is a viewing gallery at EWR? (If so, I’m surprised as LHR says they can’t have one because of security. Even though I know it’s just an excuse).
