Who is working on it?

You don’t just restore a 707 out on the grass, so some company is involved.

Presumably the owner will work on it when he has time. The company moved to Manston from Ireland and then relocated to Upwood. I doubt whether the 707 could land at Upwood now.:D

Didn’t someone operate a luxury DC-8, as kind of a cruise-plane back in the 90’s?

Who is working on it?

Sounds like an interesting plan, i am not sure of how sucessful this will be, but doesn’t seem like the best time for that sort of venture. Best of luck anyway, would love to see some movement on it soon, never good for an airportsimage to just have aircraft sitting around untouched for so long, at least this one looks pretty interesting.

The official G-INFO wesite does not show any reservation of G-RAAF – is there another source for this?

The owner reveals his plans for the aeroplane in the DVD so it’s no secret that he intends to operate a series of historic commemorative flights with paying passengers. If you are a 707 devotee this DVD will not disappoint. It is excellent.

It was due to be hushkitted which would be necessary as a civilian aircraft. The issue of G-RAAF would indicate that it is planned to fly again.

it has been up there an awful long time, and i have never seen any work being done to it, may go the way of the 747 and dc-8 parked over on the old air support apron, although they have been fenced in now. Seems like an old aircraft to be re-fitting, i don’t know how it compares to more modern cargo aircraft, with talk of all these airlines going bust, you would think a lot more modern airframes will soon become available!

Being a local resident i have asked about the 707 on here before, the answer:

You probably mean the Australian Air Force plane that arrived for hushkitting and is owned by a U.K. owner, name escapes me at the moment.

Edit. The plane is owned by Turbine Motor Works and is G-RAAF ex N707QJ.

Thank NewForest for that answer

Flying display at Manston tomorrow!

I have seen what appears to be a former military 707 at Manston twice this year in a mid grey with little in the way of markings.
