Does anyone know if Doug Arnolds Collection has now all been sold on or are their still come gems residing at places like Greenham Common?
I hear till recently there was a Spit and P40 knocking around?
I find it fascinating reading about his collection in the eighties and what Aircraft he acquired!

There are rumours that some a/c are at Greenham Common.
I am particularly interested in the P-51 ‘Mary Mine’ which is a 8th AF combat veteran and the sole remaining original survivor of the 361st Fighter Group.
Some say it is in a container at Greenham Common other says its in Florida. Owned by Baron Corp which I think is a front for Dave Arnold.

Care to explain ………;)
I have heard that someone down that way has been cloning the type, using DNA samples extracted from pieces of the original. 🙂

If I remember correctly, doug Arnold made his money from shipping.
Scrapping of ships I think you will find.

Hmm, that wasnt assembled for more than a few weeks – someone got lucky.
Heinkel nothing to do with the Arnold collection.

Mary Mine
Im certain when i was showing a guy around Spitfire SM969 (another ex Arnold Aircraft) in 2010 he told me this Mustang was in store in the Philadelphia area.
The P-40 is,im told still in the UK, fully assembled and kept nice and warm inside…..

For Wondy – Mary Mine back in 1944/5
Jason – Thank you great pic
Heres to all of us seeing her flying in our lifetime for pleasure and as a tribute to the Mighty 8th and all those brave airmen who passed away

I would like to see NH238 reunited with PL983 again, just for old times sake. It was good when OFMC operated them in the late 80’s early 90’s. Seems such a shame keeping it shut away in a container.

BlueNoser–
Yes, Cliff Robertson most certainly did own a Spitfire–ex-COGEA Mk.IX MK923, registered N521R, and beautifully displayed on the northeast-US/eastern Canada circuit by ex-RAF Canadian Spitfire pilot Jerry Billing from the early 70s through the mid 90s. Billing flew out of Windsor, Ontario. Ultimately MK923 was sold to the McCaw brothers in Washington state. It is now displayed statically at the Seattle Museum of Flight. There are some online videos by Dave Cheeseman showing Billing flying MK923 back in the day…
