Other than Foxy lady, have any of the fabulous red and Yellow airframes made it into preservation?

Stopped in at the BDAC to have a look last week.. What a wonderful little museum they have! The staff do a great job and are very friendly. Some of the cockpits have power applied to some systems too. The Jaguar they are restoring has come a long way since the acquired it!

Here’s a picture of WK800 at BDAC in 2013. It is in excellent, complete condition and sheltered very nicely in the old WW1 Belfast truss hangars at Old Sarum.

WK800 is now at Old Sarum Airfield near Salisbury along with all the other Boscombe Down Aviation Collection exhibits. It is being well looked after by its owner and there is also a Jindivik with it. BDAC is open to visitors so you can see these there.

Last few years at Llanbedr, they used an Alpha Jet instead of a Hawk as the chase aircraft.
Indeed, ZJ645 appears to have been the culprit, still in it’s awful GAF “lizard” scheme.

WK800
No guesses for where that location is then…… 😉
If this is the case I wish the people involved well as it would be good to see running again!
There are plans for it to come to a more active location hopefully soon

Theres also an airworthy hunter – XE601 (?) that was used as a chase aircRAFT. Just been reading about it in an old FP mag.

Seems ridiculous not to have a Jindivik at the RAFM, considering the policy of eye catching colour schemes in milestones of flight.
They have got one, just not on display – http://www.demobbed.org.uk/image_view.php?s=zj493.jpg

It is.
Of the last classic aircraft operated by RAE/DERA !
Don’t forget T&EE 😀
To stay with the original thread, only red/ yellow drone aircraft were mentioned so that narrows it down to 3 or so Vixens, many Meteors, Jindis and Fireflys. At least one (more?) Jindiviks went black.
However for completeness we should also mention –
Hawk T.1 XX154 – the very first Hawk, still operational at Boscombe but now in awful black. Stayed in it’s original scheme then “rippled” in ’92

Hawk T.1 XX160 – “rippled” for Llanbedr use then blacked. Went to 100Sqn, now in store

Devon C.2 XA880 – now in pieces at Little Rissington
Navajo Chieftain ZF521 – sold to the USA
A few pics of the fleet..

Didnt they have a Hawk, and was it painted in the same colours?

Gatwicks red/yellow/white G-VIXN is i believe an ex drone / target tug variant, although not sure if its ex Llanbedr.
It is.
Of the last classic aircraft operated by RAE/DERA based at Llanbedr in the ’90s,
Sea Vixen TT.2 XS587 /G-VIXN Gatwick
Sea Vixen D.3 XP924 / G-CVIX Bournemouth, flyer
Sea Vixen D.3 XS577 cockpit section Switzerland
Meteor U.16 WH453 L Bentwaters
Meteor U.16 WK800 K Boscombe Down
Canberra B(TT).2 WH734 cockpit section New Zealand
Canberra B(TT).2 WK128 cockpit section Pershore area
A pretty good survival rate!
