Sort of OT this one, but, does anyone have info on what are the best seats on XLA 738?? (overwing exit with extra legroom etc….) a friend is flying with them to Zante from GLA in June and was asking.
Any info appreciated. 🙂

i travelled on an XL 738 in 2004 and the seating wat good. The seats are quite comfy and legroom is normal for charter. Extra legroom seats are the exit rows and rows 1ABC and 2DEF, I got 2DEF and I think its the got more legroom than row 1. There is no row 1 DEF because the toilet is there.

Excellent stuff there, guys. I will pass it on to my friend. No kids just her and her boyfriend, so overwing looks to be best.
Thank you all.

The extra legroom will be at the overwing exits (rows 15 and 16) although kids wouldn’t be allowed in these rows, and row 15 won’t recline as it has an exit behind it.
Although there aren’t any legalities regarding the front row and kids, it looks from the diagram like company policy not to allow kids the aisle seats. At the front on the right there generally isn’t any extra legroom as such, more a feeling of space because there is a flat bulkhead rather than another seat. Charter config 737s don’t usually have a bulkhead on the left at row 1 which makes for great legroom, but I suspect excel must have otherwise the whole of that row would be shaded blue (available for adults only) on the diagram.
I guess the other thing to watch out for with Excel would be the likelihood of aircraft changes or non-standard cabin layouts given their connections with various other carriers and frequent leasing in of aircraft.
1L.

Extra legroom @ row 1, and at the overwing exits.
However, I don’t think you can sit in these rows if your friend has kids, well, the kids can’t get the window seat anyway

I am not too sure you would get that much extra legroom in a 738 anyway…
However……. HERE is a seating plan for a Continental 738 – I know its nowhere near the same as an XLA738 in theory, but it might have a few pointers….

Cheers Chris, i had found the seating plan, but it doesnt really show where there is extra legroom (if anywhere!!), am guessing possibly the seats behind the emergency exit doors would be more spacious??
