Exhaust/Air Scoop ID?

Hi All,

Another part to ID. Came from pacific area, that’s all I can tell you on this one, guess its from the New Guinea area but can’t confirm that. Anyways, not sure what its off other than I don’t think its exhaust as it has light aluminum running behind the intake. My guess is some form of air scoop, but Ive looked over most aircraft that it could be off and come up with nothing. So going to the experts. Does anyone recognize it?

Thanks

Hi. Thanks for that insight. I didnt even think of that. Did baffles have a hole to allow air to flow in behind them? This piece has an air duct behind the duckbill shaped piece on the left of the image.

Thanks

It appears to be a radial engine cylinder baffle, the part that fits on the top of the cylinder, the scoop directing ambient air to cool the spark plug.

I would think one of the engine bods on the Forum would be able to i/d it. It doesn’t look like anything I have got from Twin Wasp, Double Wasp or Cyclone – but that doesn’t rule it out coming from any of these types.

Anon.
