Hi All,
I need a bit of help. Has anyone out there got some good close ups of well stained exhaust stubs, preferable Merlin? Or could any of you lucky lot going to Duxford, tomorrow, take a picture or two of a Spitfire exhaust that’s nicely stained? The reason for this request is; I’m trying to get my Mossie exhaust stubs looking about right (I know someone’s bound to tell me the Spit & Mossie stubs are different. I just want to try & get the look, right). I don’t have any colour pictures & I can’t seem to get the right colour balance.
TIA.,
Neilly
I hope the days is a good one for all of you:)

Hi Yak II,
Brilliant mate! Thanks very much. I was very interested in the light grey shading. I’ve seen this light shading on some black & white pictures & thoght it was just a ‘trick of the light’.
Many thanks again:D

Hi Ant & Yak II
Thanks for the link Ant – excellent. Some super piccies.
Yes Yak II I’d like a couple of pictures of the P-51 exhaust stubs. Looking at the pictures of RS 702, the exhaust stubs look a bit to clean. I think for my model they need to look well worn & plenty of staining.
Thanks both,
Neilly

Neilly,
Would P51 stubs be any good? I can get some close ups on Monday all being well and post them during the week. Let me know

Hi Nielly,
Found some reference photos of Mossie engines, but couldn’t get the pictures to work. You could try the link for yourself and see if you have better luck. There are also other interesting articles and photo-essays in this listing,so make sure you’ve got some time to spare. 🙂 Click ‘Reference Articles’,and the Mozzie pics are about half way down the page, listed in three parts.Happy hunting…
