It may just be me, and I’m not being Anti-Boeing here – but whever I hear off explosions and 737’s I think of the centre fuel pemps – even thought procedures are in place – who knows – I hope it’s not a bomb….

I like the new wording Mr Murry, “FUEL PEMPS” sound very camp made me chuckle though.

If pumps fail, the crew is automatically noticed by low fuel pressure on the EICAS. When this occurs on older planes, the engines might fail unless other pumps are activated immediately. Where do you get the idea about Fuel Pumps from?

That’s what I’m saying, no aircraft is small, they are all big, but in different sizes:).

A small plane ! Which plane is small? A Tipsy Nipper, that’s small, but even a Cessna can not be called small! It hjas a wingspan of 11 meters: big stuff!
Izmir is a big city and has a good airport. Comparing with the facilities at Dalaman or Bodrum… Much lower.

It was a 738 – not quite so small

There has been an explosion on a Turkish Airlines plane at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport.

The city is currently hosting the Nato summit attended by world leaders, including George Bush.

The explosion happened on a small plane which had just landed in Istanbul after flying in from the Aegean port city of Izmir.

All the passengers had disembarked and the plane was being cleaned when the incident took place.

Reports claimed that a worker cleaning the plane had been hurt in the incident.

A security official said the worker had sustained an injury to his hand after opening a package which had been left on the aircraft.

Local television reports suggested that a second person had been injured.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the blast.
